I’m a PhD health scientist and women’s wellness coach.

I help women reignite their inner fire so they can level up their health & wellbeing.

In my 17-year career as a physiotherapist, health scientist and coach, one question has bugged me over and over again…

how do you motivate someone to change?

Here’s the thing.

Just about everyone knows WHAT they need to do to improve their health. They usually know HOW to do it. They sometimes even know WHEN they want to do it.

 

They’re just missing one very important thing.

 

Their ‘WHY’.

 

And this is a big problem. Because without a powerful ‘why’, creating a new habit is nearly impossible.

 

Honestly it used to drive me nuts when people would say things like, ‘I don’t have time to exercise’ or ‘I know I should do xyz’. I just couldn’t understand why people wouldn’t just DO the thing!

 

But it wasn’t until I lost my own motivation for myself that I finally understood why starting a new habit is so damn hard.

 

When I found myself standing at the edge of the lake near my house, thinking about how it would feel to just walk in and never come out again, I knew something had to change.

 

At the time I had two young kids and felt completely burnt out. My body was a mess, I felt tired all the time and I was carrying an extra 10kg. My brain was in a constant fog. I couldn’t remember the last time I felt excited about anything.

 

I felt like my life was narrowing to a point, like my best days were behind me.

i felt invisible.

Somehow in the early years of becoming a mum, I had completely lost sight of myself. I realised I had been living my entire life – even before becoming a mum - for the approval of others.

And in the process I had let my inner fire - that burning passion I had when I was young & working towards my goals - go out.

 

I had simply stopped setting goals for myself.

 

That crunch point sparked the beginning of a quest to discover my purpose. To discover what ignites my inner fire.

 

Actually, it's been more about RE-discovering... returning to the person I was before I had kids... before I had my careers... before I had all these hats I've accumulated.

Worked one-on-one with an incredible mentor who showed me blind spots I never knew I had...

Travelled around Australia & New Zealand for two years with my husband and kids…

Published over 60 articles in scientific peer-reviewed journals…

 

Helped over 100 women reclaim their health & wellbeing.

And now my purpose is to help other women awaken their highest values, unfurl their true selves, and discover the exhilaration and joy of pursuing a self-directed life.
